The 2021 Scorpo Old Cherry Orchard Pinot Noir is a single-vineyard Mornington Peninsula Pinot Noir from a high-density block of Abel clone planted at 10,000 vines per hectare on iron-rich soils. The nose is concentrated yet lifted, showing sour cherry, cranberry and redcurrant with subtle savoury spice and earthy complexity.
On the palate, it is medium-bodied and finely structured, with cherry, boysenberry and blood orange flavours supported by fresh acidity and abundant, rounded tannins. The 2021 fruit was hand-picked, fermented with 15% whole bunch and spent 21 days on skins, building texture and depth while maintaining freshness.
Ben’s Recommendation:
At Wine More Cellars, this is a great choice for Pinot Noir drinkers looking for a structured, single-vineyard expression of the Mornington Peninsula. It has the depth to continue developing in bottle, while already offering attractive savoury complexity. Pair with roast duck, lamb, mushroom dishes, grilled salmon or aged cheeses.
