A fun, energetic "bootleg" red from Pat Underwood’s Little Reddie label, made in a loose, experimental style that changes from year to year. The 2024 release is built from organically farmed Cabernet Sauvignon from Colbinabbin in Heathcote, fermented naturally and matured in old oak for freshness and drinkability. The nose shows blackberry, plum and dark cherry alongside green pepper spice, dried herbs and subtle earthy notes. There’s a slightly wild, crunchy character that gives the wine plenty of charm and personality.
On the palate, it is medium-bodied, juicy and vibrant with soft tannins, bright acidity and fresh dark berry fruit carrying through the finish. Supple and highly drinkable, with a savoury edge and minimal-intervention feel throughout.
Ben’s Recommendation:
A seriously easy-drinking modern Victorian red - fresh, crunchy and made for the table. Best served slightly chilled with pizza, burgers, charcuterie or casual shared food. Drink now through 2029+.
