The 2023 Heathcote Estate Shiraz is a powerful yet beautifully balanced Victorian Shiraz that showcases the richness, spice and structure for which the Heathcote region is renowned. The nose is deeply expressive, revealing blackberry, dark plum and blueberry aromas layered with black pepper, liquorice, dark chocolate and subtle smoky oak notes.
Gosh, this is such a good wine. It was a super vintage in Heathcote, and you can see it immediately on the nose with further highlights on the palate. This is not a massively opulent style of wine, but it has tremendous concentration of fruit delivered with such poise and elegance, spicy, savoury dark fruits, a little chocolate, plenty of those plummy riches. And finished with incredible polish with the use of 500-liter French oak puncheons. It seems the 20% whole bunch inclusions have certainly brought that palate into focus.
