The 2024 Commune of Buttons Pompette is a vibrant, lo-fi chilled red from Jasper Button and Sophie Thomson, made in a playful yet thoughtful minimal-intervention style. A blend of Pinot Noir and Gamay from organically farmed Adelaide Hills vineyards, the wine is designed for freshness, energy and pure drinkability. The nose shows raspberry, sour cherry and cranberry alongside rose petal, spice and subtle earthy herbs. There’s a bright crunchy freshness with a lightly wild, aromatic lift that gives the wine plenty of charm.
On the palate, it is light-bodied with juicy red fruits, silky tannins and lively acidity. Fresh, slinky and highly drinkable, with a crunchy savoury finish that works beautifully with a slight chill.
Ben’s Recommendation:
The 2024 Commune of Buttons Pompette is a seriously fun modern Adelaide Hills red — somewhere between Beaujolais, Pinot Noir and natural wine energy. Bright, fragrant and dangerously easy to drink. Perfect slightly chilled with charcuterie, pizza, roast chicken or casual shared food. Drink now through 2029+.
