The 2022 Brokenwood Hunter Valley Shiraz Half Bottle (375ml) is a classic medium-bodied Shiraz from the Hunter Valley in New South Wales, produced by one of the region's benchmark estates. The fruit was sourced entirely from Brokenwood's managed Hunter Valley vineyards, including Graveyard, Oakey Creek, Mistress Block, Verona and Tallawanta, with the blend benefiting from younger-vine Graveyard fruit as well as declassified material from the celebrated older vines. Fermentation took place in a combination of Vinomatic and small open-top fermenters before maturation in 100% French oak, including 25% puncheons and approximately 25% new oak. The result captures the traditional Hunter Valley approach to Shiraz: moderate alcohol, savoury complexity and freshness rather than excessive weight or ripeness.
