The 2022 Denton Cabernet Sauvignon is a beautifully poised Yarra Valley Cabernet sourced from the warm north-western slopes of Denton View Hill, a unique granite outcrop overlooking the valley. The long, mild 2022 growing season allowed for slow ripening and exceptional flavour development, while wild fermentation and maturation in large 500L French oak puncheons preserved purity and vineyard character. Bottled unfined and unfiltered, it is a modern Cabernet that emphasises elegance and savoury complexity over sheer power.
The nose reveals blackcurrant, red plum and cedar layered with bay leaf, roses and sweet spice. On the palate, it is medium-bodied and finely structured, with bright red and black fruits, savoury earthiness and silky, silt-like tannins. Notes of smoked meat, dark plum and subtle graphite unfold through a long, fresh finish, delivering a distinctly Yarra Valley expression of Cabernet Sauvignon. Gabrielle Poy awarded the wine 93 points, praising its harmony, elegance and ageing potential.
