The 2024 Commune of Buttons Eurilla Chardonnay is a finely detailed Chardonnay from the cool-climate Piccadilly Valley in the Adelaide Hills. Sourced from the organically managed Merrowbank Vineyard, a south-facing site at around 500–550 metres elevation, the wine is whole-bunch pressed, barrel fermented in seasoned French oak and matured on its lees for 11 months. Crafted with minimal intervention, it is a beautifully balanced expression that combines texture, freshness and striking mineral precision.
The nose reveals aromas of white peach, lemon zest and ripe pear layered with cashew, white flowers and subtle flinty notes. The palate is beautifully textured, with generous stone fruit supported by vibrant natural acidity and a chalky mineral backbone. Elegant and focused, it finishes long with refreshing citrus, fine lees complexity and impressive precision.
Ben’s Recommendation:
A superb Adelaide Hills Chardonnay that perfectly balances richness with tension and mineral drive. Its purity and layered texture make it an excellent match for grilled lobster, roast chicken, seared scallops, creamy mushroom risotto and mature soft cheeses. Enjoy now through 2034, or cellar for several years as it develops additional complexity and savoury depth.
