The 2023 Henschke Marble Angel Cabernet Sauvignon is a single-varietal Barossa Valley Cabernet from Light Pass, grown on ancient red clay and limestone soils. The nose shows blackcurrant, dark cherry and cassis with violet, black pepper, cedar, dried herbs and subtle cocoa notes, combining ripe fruit with classic Cabernet savouriness. Henschke confirms the 750ml 2023 release is available in a gift-box presentation.
On the palate, it is full-bodied and finely structured with concentrated dark red fruit, fresh acidity and long, mature tannins. Seventeen months in French oak hogsheads, with just 13% new oak, brings restrained cedar and spice alongside roasted hazelnut and herbal notes. The finish is persistent, firm and well defined.
Ben’s Recommendation:
At Wine More Cellars, this gift-boxed release is a great choice for Cabernet Sauvignon drinkers and collectors who enjoy structured Barossa reds with dark fruit and savoury complexity. Henschke gives the 2023 a cellaring potential of 20+ years from vintage. Pair with grilled steak, roast lamb, slow-cooked beef, mushroom dishes or mature hard cheeses.
