2021 Allegrini Palazzo della Torre IGT from Veneto is a modern take on the Amarone tradition, made using a partial appassimento method (a portion of dried grapes blended with fresh fruit). The nose is rich and expressive, showing ripe cherry, plum and blackberry, layered with dried fruit, cocoa and sweet spice, alongside subtle hints of herbs and tobacco. It has a signature style that sits between fresh Valpolicella and full Amarone.
On the palate, it is medium- to full-bodied and velvety, offering flavours of dark berries, dried cherry and chocolate, supported by smooth tannins and balanced acidity. The dried grape component adds depth and richness, but the wine still retains freshness and drinkability. The finish is round, warm and slightly savoury, making it both approachable and complex.
