The 2013 Barranco Oscuro Salvaje Blanco is a distinctive 100% Sauvignon Blanc from the high-altitude vineyards of Granada in southern Spain. Grown at around 1,300 metres on schist, slate and clay soils, it offers ripe apple and citrus alongside herbal, menthol and savoury mineral notes, showing a markedly different expression of Sauvignon Blanc from more conventional examples.
On the palate, it is concentrated, rounded and structured, with ripe fruit balanced by freshness and pronounced minerality. The wine is naturally fermented before extended maturation in barrel, building texture and savoury complexity while retaining its high-altitude character. Barranco Oscuro’s minimal-intervention approach results in a powerful, mature white with considerable depth and persistence.
