The 2024 Pio Cesare Barbera d’Alba DOC is a classic Piedmont red made from 100% Barbera, sourced from vineyards with a mix of limestone, clay, marl and sandy soils. The nose shows ripe plum, blackberry and dark cherry, complemented by violet, peppery spice and subtle earthy notes.
On the palate, it is medium to full-bodied with juicy dark fruit and Barbera’s naturally vibrant acidity, balanced by a rounded texture and fine structure. Around 12 months in large French and Eastern European oak, with a small portion in French barriques, adds gentle spice and complexity before a persistent, fresh finish.
