This is gris as it should be. Now we only say that because labeling in Australia as far as grigio or gris can be a little confusing and definitely a little misleading. In this instance that is not the case. Anyway, let's get back to the wine.
If you haven't heard of The Other Wine Co. it's the "side project" of Shaw Smith winemaker Adam Wadewitz. They are still part of the S&S family but lets him have a little fun with a bunch of different varietals and a good play around in the winery cranking out easy-going, spot-on, delicious wines that sit perfectly alongside their elder siblings.
Nashi pear, crushed spice, a little floral lift, that hint of vanilla bean sliding in alongside the fruit, its so inviting. The palate backs it up with fleshy, white tree fruits to the fore along with a little citrus, pithy twang. Plenty fresh but there is a lovely creamy lushness to the fruit delivered in all in a tight little package that feels like it will unfurl even more over the next year or two. Spot on gris.
