BENJAMIN LEROUX
Benjamin Leroux is widely celebrated as one of the most talented winemakers of his generation in Burgundy. After rising to prominence as the estate manager at Domaine Comte Armand in Pommard, he launched his own label in 2007, based in Beaune. Though technically a négociant, Leroux has redefined what that term can mean—crafting wines with the precision and care more often associated with top domaines. He works with trusted growers across Burgundy and increasingly farms or leases his own parcels in prestigious villages like Puligny-Montrachet, Meursault, Volnay, and Gevrey-Chambertin.
What distinguishes Leroux’s wines is their combination of purity, energy, and respect for terroir. He favors organic and biodynamic farming practices and takes a minimal intervention approach in the cellar: fermenting with native yeasts, extracting gently, and using oak sparingly to let the vineyard speak for itself. His red wines, including even the modestly labeled Bourgogne Rouge, consistently display clarity, finesse, and a vibrant expression of Pinot Noir fruit.
Leroux’s commitment to detail and transparency has earned him widespread acclaim from critics and collectors alike. Jancis Robinson once described him as “a serious contender for the most talented young wine-maker in Burgundy today.” His wines manage to be both intellectually rewarding and highly drinkable—offering access to the spirit of Burgundy without the need for grand cru budgets or long cellaring.
