2019 Indigo Beechworth Pinot Noir
The Indigo Vineyard is located 12km’s from Beechworth in the foothills of the Victorian Alps. The cool, dry climate and the soils which vary from granite to clay loams lend themselves to high quality Pinot Noir. Fruit was hand-picked and about 25% whole bunches were used in the ferment. Maturation was in French oak with 30% in new oak and the balance in barrels of varying age from a variety of coopers. Minimal intervention is required to maximize pinotcharacters and to allow the soils and the character of the region to be displayed.
Light in colour but real presence. On the nose herbs and woodsmoke give way to subtle cherry and hints of anise. It has a velvety texture, tannic but flush with foresty fruit.
