2025-swinney-mourvedre
2025 Swinney Mourvèdre

The 2025 Swinney Mourvèdre is a distinctive Frankland River red showing blackberry, dark cherry and ripe plum alongside violet, dried herbs, white pepper and subtle earthy spice. The dry-grown vines and ironstone-rich landscape give the wine a savoury, mineral character beneath the generous fruit, while the cool climate preserves freshness and aromatic lift. The style is expressive and layered, combining Mediterranean richness with the natural precision of Frankland River.

On the palate, it is medium to full-bodied and finely textured, with vibrant acidity, chalky tannins and layers of dark cherry, blackberry and plum. Ripe red and dark fruit are complemented by dried herbs, pepper, subtle liquorice and earthy mineral notes, while a fine ironstone character adds tension and length. The tannins are firm but polished, giving the wine structure without making it feel heavy. As it opens, savoury and herbal notes become more pronounced, adding complexity to the fresh fruit. The finish is dry, long and persistent, with lingering dark fruit, pepper, mineral and Mediterranean herb character.

Ben’s Recommendation:
At Wine More Cellars, this is an excellent choice for Mourvèdre drinkers looking for a serious Australian expression with depth, freshness and savoury complexity. It is enjoyable now but has the acidity, tannin and concentration to develop further earthy and spicy character with bottle age. Best enjoyed over the next 6–10 years. Pair with slow-roasted lamb shoulder, beef short ribs, venison with rosemary, duck with lentils, pork with smoked paprika, or roasted eggplant with chickpeas and Mediterranean herbs.

Info

COUNTRY

Australia

PRODUCER

Swinney

VARIETY

Mourvèdre

STYLE

Red Wine

VINTAGE

2025

SIZE

750ml
