2021-robert-weil-monte-vacano-riesling-trocken
2021 Robert Weil Monte Vacano Riesling Trocken

The 2021 Robert Weil Monte Vacano Riesling Trocken is a prestigious dry Riesling from the Kiedrich Gräfenberg vineyard in the Rheingau, produced from a particularly steep and stony parcel planted in 1971. The wine is named after Wilhelm Weil’s Italian great-grandfather and represents one of the estate’s most ambitious dry Rieslings. It shows lemon, lime and green apple alongside white peach, grapefruit, white flowers and fine slate-like mineral notes. The cooler 2021 vintage gives it remarkable freshness and precision, while the old vines provide depth and concentration.

On the palate, it is medium to full-bodied and beautifully structured, with vibrant acidity supporting layers of citrus, orchard fruit and delicate stone fruit. Lemon and lime are complemented by green apple, white peach and grapefruit, while subtle floral and herbal notes add aromatic complexity. A pronounced mineral and saline character provides tension and length, giving the wine a firm, focused backbone. The texture is concentrated yet precise, with gentle savoury and nutty nuances beginning to emerge with bottle age. The finish is exceptionally long, dry and persistent, leaving lingering citrus, mineral, floral and savoury notes.

Ben’s Recommendation:
At Wine More Cellars, this is an exceptional choice for serious Riesling collectors seeking a dry Rheingau wine with concentration, precision and long-term ageing potential. The 2021 vintage is beginning to develop, but its acidity, old-vine concentration and mineral structure should allow it to evolve beautifully for many years. Best enjoyed from around 2027–2040+. Serve chilled with oysters, seared scallops, grilled turbot, roast chicken with morels, pork with apple and mustard, or mature goat’s cheese.

Info

COUNTRY

German

PRODUCER

Robert Weil

VARIETY

Riesling

STYLE

White Wine / Trocken

VINTAGE

2021

SIZE

750ml

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0574/6779/7699/files/2021RobertWeilMonteVacanoRieslingTrocken.jpg?v=1793737751
