Planted in 1982 to the BVRC30 clone, the vines grow on silty sandy loam over red ironstone clay with schist at depth. The nose shows blueberry and mulberry alongside violet, slate and savoury mushroom notes.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"MsoNormal\"\u003eOn the palate, it combines impressive fruit concentration with the finesse expected from elevated Eden Valley Shiraz. Dark berry fruit is supported by a persistent grainy tannin structure, savoury complexity and excellent length. The fruit was destemmed into an open-top fermenter, spent ten days on skins and was basket pressed before maturation for 18 months in seasoned French oak.
