The 2018 vintage enjoyed idyllic conditions. While the season got off to a later start than usual, veraison was only seven days later than average which gave the grapes the time to achieve perfect ripeness. Harvest began on September 19th and continued until the October 25th.
A blend of Cabernet Sauvignon 84%, Petit Verdot 6%, Merlot 5%, Cabernet Franc 4% and Malbec 1%, with 17 months ageing in new French oak, the 2018 has a seductive bouquet of blackberries, cassis and black cherries followed by notes of violets, white pepper and rose petals. Beautifully harmonious on the palate, fine grained tannins and fresh acidity balance juicy black fruit accented with hints of orange zest and dark chocolate finishing with a 'lingering mineral note'.
